The photographer specializes in weddings and birthdays, shit like that.

For these reasons we are going for real softcore glamour style, but I have a feeling we are going to miss completely and just end up with an expensive amateur clusterfuck.

It's going to be interesting, there is a good possibility none of the girls will show up, one thing I am 100% sure of, we will learn a thing or two about how NOT to do it.

Questions:

So right now I got prima donna photographers charging me more than the damn models. Is this normal?

Also they are wanting to charge per PHOTO not per hour or anything that makes sense.

All in all not too expensive, just weird and hard to understand the logic. Thoughts?
There are lots of photographers with very good skills that love the opportunity to shoot nekkid girls, and will lower their rates accordingly for the experience, although in my case, when I use photographers without much adult experience, I have to direct the shoots, since as you indicated, they are often used to a more staid, traditional style of shooting.

Otherwise I may end up with something like this, from a wannabe DeMille:

This frees me to shoot video, while providing different looks for my Members, since each photographer has a different style. Slightly more expensive to shoot this way, since I can shoot both stills and video myself, but much easier to manage, and after a few times working together I can tell if the chemistry is good between us (lots of subjectivity in creative fields, as well as some big/unusual egos).

I learn from each photographer that I work with as well, which ends up adding to my skill set. When working as a team, communication is essential, so it's best to work in tandem, rather than to stew over creative differences (as a Director, it's on me and my bad if I can't communicate well with the models/performers, and crew).

Good luck and post some pix, AFTER you PERSONALLY make sure they are over 18, have done their model releases, and whatever 2257 paperwork that you have. If you are going to do this, be sure to do it right so that you can use the content.

If you want to raise your game, remember that shooting content is as much about what goes on before and after you release the shutter, as it is that instant when you are shooting each shot, and the more you remember that as you plan and execute your shoot, the better results you should get as you gain experience.
