In 1997 or so search engine Alta Vista had a page on which you could see live what people were searching for. Now THAT was hilarious! Sometimes it was also sad though, with the occasional search for CP crap. Because of that they stopped it.
To know what niche is popular on Google you'll need to dive in the Google stats I suppose? Or if you use AdWords, see what keywords are most expensive.
