Awards

The truth is bring white and also being a man in the US is an advantage. Just look at the board of directors of any major US corporation. They might have a token Black, woman or Hispanic.

So what if there are a few rewards for minorities to help them become 'productive members' of society? My GF's daughter graduated from high school yesterday with more scholarships than anybody else and she's white and blonde.

if a "Black" scholarship helps a kid to overcome living on welfare aren't we all better off? But come on, nobody usually mentions them, but there are scholarships for everything. Some guy dies and leaves money for any kid whose grandparents came from a certain county in Ireland and has the last name of O'Leary. Is that any more racist?

My problem with the system is we've become award crazy.
We give out awards to kids just for playing a sport. At season's end, every kid gets a trophy. Kids 'graduate' from kindergarten and middle school. Kids become to expect awards just for breathing.

On TV, there's always some damn award show on. Used to be the Oscars were just best movie, best actor and best actress. Now the kid who holds the door of the actor's limo gets an Oscar.

And those awards and scholarships don't mean shit. $100K in scholarships and the college still wants $3K, no credit cards accepted.

You might get some reward, but you're still going to end up at McD's just like pro athletes who spent all their money on Bling, unless you put out effort.

Then there's people like my son. He's 1/32 Indian, so he could get all kinds of college money and probably income from casinos. Won't take a dime.
