i think you might be partial right at best.
the point to a diet is for the body to convert the fat tissue to carbs/energy.
body prefer readily available energy such sugars and carbs but fat is basically energy stored "onboard" but needs to be converted to consumable energy.
taking in very little caloric intake during one week could probably take off some pounds.
also cleanse your system, but check with a doctor, might be some nutrients you still need.
starving yourself is possible, you will be very tired and probably sleep alot.
