You never know. The Haitian population in Miami is booming and the Haitian drug dealers there have become more powerful since the major Bahamian dealers from The Bahamas were extradited to US jails (Read: the territory is now up for grabs).
This most recent attack could be the result of a new chemical mix that is more potent and is based on some of the chemicals they use in voodoo ceremonies.
Went to Port au Prince, Haiti a short while ago. That place is fucked up to say the least.
I thought the Serpent and the Rainbow was "just a movie", but that shit has a real scientific basis. They drug a voodoo victim with a cocktail of datura stramonium and other chemicals, bury them alive, dig them up a short while later and then go through the streets whipping the person.
Pretty much the person loses independent rational thought and the psychotic break is permanent. They'll never be the same again.
This might not be the case in this scenario, but it only makes sense that someone could likely make a blend of street drugs and voodoo compounds that give a greater, long lasting high.
