It's funny - I'm a former Marine myself, and it seems like nearly half of the Marines I met claim to be "RECON", which is the Marine's version of the Navy Seals. Every Marine was RECON, every Navy seaman a SEAL, every person in the Army was a Ranger and everybody in the Air Force... wait, who are the elite people in the Air Force?
Seems like you rarely meet a guy that says "Yeah, I was in Iraq and was in charge or ordering supplies." Everybody wants to pretend they were on a top secret mission.
The CIA is notoriously secretive. Most people that work for the CIA do so because they believe in National Security and secrecy. Sure there are a few that tell tales out of school, but it seems like a new "former CIA agent" is telling secrets every week. The conspiracy theorists eat it up because these people, in their mind, provide confirmation of what they want to believe. Of course there is absolutely no way to verify the credentials of these "agents" and these characters know that, which is why they go around boasting that they are agents.
It's funny that conspiracy theorists believe nothing is beyond the CIA...except apparently quieting all of these "former agents" who are telling secrets.
