Also, let's not forget, as was pointed out earlier in the thread, the LA primadonnas are busy on their cell phone, doing their makeup, memorizing their lines, etc. while driving. NYC drivers are cunning and focused, they get shit done. It's also illegal to talk on your cell phone without a hands free device while driving in NYC.

first off, I will never argue that the transit system in LA sucks, San Francisco's rocks. They are trying here, but as the song says, "nobody walks in LA." We have been spoiled with an elaborate freeway system, and LA is pretty damn big, area wise.
Re: driving with cell phones . . . . I believe that there are some cities around here that have outlawed that practice, and fully expect a statewide law against it, if I have to start it myself.
Every close call I have had in the past 4 years has had a cell phone being used by the other guy. I really like it when they hold up the phone to show me, as if this is some kind of legit excuse.
Of course, it is possible that they are just giving me something to aim at instead of blowing their brains out
