If you own a website about midget poodle fuckers, then you only want people interested in midget poodle fuckers coming across your URL. However you get the midget poodle fucker interested people to your site doesnt matter, if its a banner ad or a good SEO listing. Just make sure they know its going to be a site about midget poodle fuckers before they get there, and your signup ratio will improve beyond belief. Filter out the people that arent interested in midget poodle fuckers at whatever your source of traffic is, BEFORE they get to your site.
I'd rather get 8000 uniques that I know I can convert at 1:80 instead of 80,000 uniques converting at 1:5000 because I used misleading ad copy to get a vistor to click thru to my site.
