A few reasons...
One is i dont really have a ballpark figure in mind im open to all offers ,sometimes when a domain attracts a lot of interest i just go with the flow and then other times i have a target price and publish it in the opening post.
If it remains unsold over a long period i will ususally place a firm BIN on it.
I can also email you if i have a contact address if the price drops to a level that might interest you even though you may have had your earlier offer refused.
So simply shoot over your best offer.
