Those laws are state by state. And I was watching the news the other night and it looks like the majority of the U.S. has that kind of law. Most of them called "Castle Laws" which mean that if somebody breaks into your home you can kill them whether they are running from you or not...just the fact they are in your home gives you the right to kill them.

And then some states have taken it to the Florida type law that says ANYWHERE you are at if you feel threatened you can take action. Apparently these laws were written after shit happened to people out on the streets and they got tired of being assaulted and killed. But I guess that isn't a "sexy" enough story for the press to really go into.
