A woman from Little Burnt Bay, a community on the northeast coast of Newfoundland, is recovering in hospital after being accidentally shot early Friday afternoon.
The RCMP said the 68-year-old woman was on a family outing on Philpott's Road when she was shot in the shoulder.
A 35-year-old man from Lewisporte, who was hunting in the area, was arrested near the scene and charges are pending. Police said the hunter thought he was shooting in the direction of wildlife.
The woman was taken to the Central Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor for treatment.
