'Aids sufferers' rape woman for hours

ESHOWE - Police expect to arrest seven men soon who told a woman they have Aids while gang-raping her for several hours in a sugarcane field near Amatikulu.

One man was arrested on Monday morning. He will appear in the Nyoni Magistrate's Court today.

The woman was attacked near the Amatikulu sugar mill at around 6 pm on Sunday. She was dragged into a nearby field where she was raped until 4 am the next morning.

The attackers told the woman that they have Aids and that by raping her they would be cured.

A northern KZN police spokesman said police found the woman when she stumbled to a traffic accident scene near the scene of her ordeal.

The first suspect, aged about 23, was arrested when the woman pointed him out in a crowd of onlookers. He was reportedly found with blood and semen smeared on his pants.
