Keep building and the best part of your own domain is that you have every bit of control over it with no ads depending on hosting and you can almost always profit from selling the domain in the end if you don't feel like renewing registration anymore.
But freehosts also have a huge purpose in link building and a few other things that you just can't do with your own hosting alone.
