Any big name singer is a brand, generally owned by a large corporation. Once they're over the hill and sales are declining, a good way to boost them up again and improve the profitability of the brand is for the singer to die. The brand still exists, it gets free exposure on all of the news media and gossip magazines, the brand essentially goes viral.

There are cases where a singer's early death is a genuine accident, but what we've seen with WH is more of a conspiracy (people have conspired) to make bank.
