My weight loss was gradual...over a year. I'm guessing that the combination of eliminating the liquid calories I was drinking (a fifth of rum a day), and getting more recreation (I do lots more physical activities when I'm not drunk), are the main contributing factors.
A fifth of rum contains something like 1600 calories, so even if you are pounding it with diet coke (zero calories), that is a lot of extra calories (plus the alcohol messes up your metabolism, etc).
When I switched to cannabis, I was concerned that munchies might cause me to put on weight, however, I find myself being choosier about what I eat these days (trying to eat more healthy), and after a few days of discipline, I don't have a major munchies issue.
My other main concern was productivity, since I was worried that if I was too stoned, my work output would suffer. I originally stopped using cannabis about 12 years ago, when I started in adult, because I was having a hard time staying focused, and learning all of the new software I was buying to develop websites. It took a few weeks to find the right balance, but once my tolerance levels adapted to daily cannabis use, I am sorry that I stopped for over a decade (it helps that there are many varieties of cannabis available, as well as several ways to prepare/consume marijuana).
As legalization spreads, I am trying to make sure that people get turned on to healthier alternatives to smoking cannabis...if you haven't tried using a vaporizer yet, I "highly" recommend that you try.
