Mainstream Commerce
This is more of a food for though related topic but it is in regards to methods of mainstream commerce to even your everyday life perhaps.
Today I went grocerie shopping. It is often a significant event choosing what to buy, and how products that I might buy are presented somewhat.
There may have been topics in the past regarding how grocerie stores line their shelves. And yes presenting to customer is part of the whole shindig of course.
I kissed off som $243.87 bucks USD for this run.
I look at the reciept after the purchase.
You actually get two pices of tape, somthing I take for granted often without much examination.
Today I examined these things and check it out.
This purchase was made at Ralphs on Ventura Blvd.
I go all the way to the bottom of the actual reciept I see...
"You've earned 3.00 Double Bucks.
Todays Purchase Increases Your points totaly by 233.66"
Then provides a break down of other area's of the following as I have a "Club Card" a frequent buyers reward system.
"256.37 Toward great Escape
16.98 Toward Wine Club
2.99 Toward Free Package Salad.
58.85 Toward Pet Club."
Observe the fact that the increments above do not say $!
After some anaylisis the break down of the figures above regading points accumulated from past shopping.
This particular sales saved me $15.66 total.
Some math shows I saved less than 10% of my purchase! However fact is they always ask for the "Club Card" information.
Here is the real thing.
You get a reciept and another tape write out. They implement an intelligent system that knows exactly what I have bought today and hat I have bought in the past.
This 3 foot long piece of tape consists of coupons.
Today I bought a bottle of Cuervo Tequila a little out of the ordinary but on this piece of 3 foot long paper low and behold a coupon for Tequila $2.00 bucks off and.... Yes another coupon for Margarita Mixer! Kick ass! next time they know and I know that I will more than likely bring that coupon. But guess what will happen if I repeat buy?
You guessed it if ya not thought about it. They wont offer me Tequila Coupon next time!
I guess in summary I want to get to the point.
It seems in some advanced marketing techniques are based on exactly WHAT YOU BUY and a HISTORY OF WHAT HAS BEEN BOUGHT! To date I can not think of many (NONE) adult webservices that know or keep record of what a consumer purchases to make future offers!
Soooooo.
Who does somthing like this? Or better yet When will somthing similer come to fruition?
