I've had a business account with Sprint for years now and I get excellent coverage in my area and even when I travel to Vegas, Phoenix, Tampa and other places.
You have many options with Android for the phone itself, but I recommend a nice 4 inch or bigger screen. My almost two year old HTC Evo 4G has a 4.3 inch screen which I love. Other phones like the iPhone's screen appear tiny by comparison. Many people like the Samsung Galaxy S II. Whatever Android phone you get, almost all the popular apps are free.
