The Super Bowl is the biggest game in the world. Baseball has been America's biggest sport for over 100 years (although today it may not be number one, it is still in the top three.) Baseball is a low-scoring sport. You said Americans are obsessed with high scores, evidenced by this very thread, where only one person mentioned anything about low scores.
