The fewer steps, the better. This is true in everything online.

I'm aware of this ofcourse. This is a general rule. BUT it doesn't always work that way.
Look at a random tgp for instance. If all the links would go directly to a paysite. People click a link. Get a paysite...quickly close the site because they want to see some content. Try another link...paysite...they simply then move on.
The same surfer when he knows he will get galleries will try maybe 10 galleries and finally visits a gallery he really likes and then by his own choice clicks through to the sponsor. Because he is interested to see what the the site might offer him. He might have closed that same site directly if he was forced to visit it.
Different sites, different situations. That's why i'm asking if someone actually did test this with a lot of sites and a lot of traffic. Specifically with blogs.
