well, this can apply for ANY existing script in the market. Personally, I think the ongoing support and development of a script comes with success. And this is where Magic Members is stronger: they sell like hotcakes, so why kill the golden egg hen? Again, who knows. Maybe they make a lot of money and decide to join a cult, but it will be always a chance with any script
Besides, there are basically 2 WP membership plugins for adult: Magic Members and Your Members. Everything else is catered to mainstream, so unless you're going to use it for a mainstream site, S2 is of no use. Same for most (if not all) other plugins listed in that page
