This is not a gear issue. It's knowing how to use your gear.
I can make due with any camera, and any flash, and any lens. I don't care if it's a manual film camera with a janky-ass manual focus lens and a prism element... I can squeeze off the same amount of images with the same accuracy as when I'm in a studio environment.

I am sure you are among the top 3 photographers in the world, but if the flash unit is not seated properly it is not going to make a difference.
You think this was because my exposure settings were off?
