Yes, definitely. Will quality text content improve average time on site and bounce rates? Yes. There are many valuable ways to use quality text. That doesn't mean all text is good or that every project needs text. However, bad text or duplicate content is a serious liability.

I'll give you a real world example. A client of mine has a site with thousands of active members. In the members area he posted a survey question asking 'what makes this site better than all others' and as multiple choice answers he listed: video quality, interface/player options, video quantity and site text. You'll chuckle when you read that only 3% of the thousands of people responding chose site text as the primary factor that made this their site of choice. However the site owner had a different reaction, he realized 30 out of every thousand members said the text on his site was retaining their interest. When you consider that the text was intended to please search engines and entice tour visitors to convert... the fact that 3% of his members listed text ahead of video or interface is significant... and even more likely would have chosen it as their second or third choice.

This thread has gotten more than 1000 views on less than 100 posts. The one thing readers can all take away from that fact is that text is very interesting when it is well-written and about a topic the reader enjoys. In the case of his thread, webmaster drama text is improving retention ... In the case of other sites the topics change but the impact remains noticeable. I appreciate your time and effort in helping me to demo my abilities as a writer, and I am confident a writer willing to do 10,000 scenes for 500 bucks would have had a significantly weaker ability to keep people interested in their work. ;)
Well we'll just take your word for it.
Since you can produce ZERO other than that for us to go on.
