I fail to understand how the US can charge Julian Assange with anything. He is not a US citizen, and the actions he took did not take place on US soil. US law does not apply outside of the US. It's like arresting a Russian spy in Moscow because he worked for their intelligence agency. He could be charged under US law if he committed the crime in the US and was arrested in the US, otherwise, it's not even a crime.
Now, with that said, why the CIA has allowed him to continue to operate is stunning. I'm really surprised he hasn't been shot dead yet.
