I got a note today that Laurel Hertz is participating in a Century Bike Ride (June 3rd, 2012 in Lake Tahoe) to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's fight against Leukemia, Hodgkin's Disease, Lymphoma, and Myeloma. These diseases strike all age groups, economic levels and races of our community. Many breakthroughs have happened, but a lot of research and testing is still required to finally put an end to these blood related cancers.
My own personal experience goes back to 2000 when i was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and to 2001 when i received a bone marrow and blood cell transplant. Im so very fortunate to still be here 12 years later.
New treatments, including genetically altering a patients T-cells to kill cancer cells look promising and if successful could also be used in treating other types of cancers.
Please check out Laurel's webpage, read about the dedication of the Team In Training participants and if you can, please make a donation...

All of us that have, or have had one of the above diseases, really appreciate your support.
