splice plants together to form hybrids
make your own beer
make gunpowder (by hand)
metalsmith a solid war ready sword
etc...

so since many people now do not know how to do these things, does not make them impossible. Back in the day people NEEDED to know how to do these things, its just lost knowledge to the general population. So thats how they moved big rocks.
