Well the number varies a lot from 100 billion to 500 billion. I have seen some late numbers and it is 160 billion planets around stars and maybe another 160 or more without stars. It is all based on the latest data from Kepler and other sources, today estimated number of planets around one star is 1.6, but the problem is there are also many planets without stars and no one is sure now how big the number can be. Data from Kepler from last two motnhs are amazing I'm pretty sure we will have first Earth like rock planet in habitable zone discovered very soon. We live in amazing time.
