Whoever posted the original thread had some squashed up photoshops of the car that looked terrible. Here is the actual car.
Some points to make (from me)
* Pricing not yet announced, but anticipated to start at $49,999 after federal tax credit.
* 211 miles - 270 miles range (not confirmed exacts yet).
* 7 seats.
* Two large luggage compartments (front and back)
* 4WD (one electric motor at front, one at back). With incredibly precise stability control between them. (made possibly by no drivetrain/instant torque)
* 0-60 in under 5 seconds on all models (performance in 4.4 seconds)
* Charging from home network (possible full charge in 4 hours - though may require some upgrade to your home network if you want it this quick)
* Tesla is currently building out network of fast charge infrastructure across the US highway system. 300~ stations in total will cover entire US highway system with one station every 200 miles.
* Fast charge adds 150 miles range every 30 minutes. This time is expected to improve with each model.
Tesla just announced today that their next car will be the mass market car, expected to be unveiled in 18 months, available in 2015. Will be a $30,000 car/compact with similar specs/range.
Haters get to hating. This is one of the next big automakers. Remember the guy behind this, Elon Musk, is the guy who is taking over cargo (and likely crew) transportation to the ISS for NASA, and the US Government with his other company SpaceX. Oh and he also founded a little company called PayPal. This guy makes shit happen.
