Not agreed, it's called diversification. Selling a singe item from each venue never was a good business model for most. My feelings are that these were always a sideline in the past.
I'm speaking from experience of porn shops in the 60s in Central London. A single shop would take a $1,000 in a day with no problems. Mark up was awesome. These were the days when criminals found porn shops lucrative enough to run, to bribe policemen and judges. They didn't sit around scared of a knock on the door, a new law being passed, or any of the little things that scare so many here.
In the 80s I was, with 2 employees, turning a lot of money. Selling mail order videos and I wasn't the only one. Magazine sets were worth $3,000 non exclusive, the prices never changed through the years.
And there were no end of magazines to sell to, because there were few shooters who could produce the goods. !st, 2nd, 3rd rights. Phone sex ads, covers, centre fold and then give it to Photorama to make even more money.

Today the Internet has wrapped it often under one company and we have the affiliates driving traffic past the shop windows. The biggest difference isn't the reach the Internet has. Because most of the countries that do buy, always did. The biggest difference is we give it away to get traffic which has always hurt sales in the porn industry. We just never saw it.
Today we know it for the truth. Because there's little else to take it from. Yes many people have seen the benefits of online porn and many have seen the harm. I've seen both and benefited and been harmed by both.
I suppose I got sick of the blabber based no concrete evidence, on propaganda and personal narrow views that online was a huge boost to porn. Try to get some offline people to agree to that.
I'm very happy, during the good years I put money into pensions. So now so long as I don't buy big flash cars, a big house or act like pimpin online guy to impress affiliates, we're fine for the rest of my life. Then my life insurance kicks in and Eva and our daughter are fine. The dog can go fend for himself.
I'll just stick around here trolling until it's gone.
