The mounting national debt is a huge problem which needs to be addressed. A few tax hikes in an already bad economy will not do the trick. Neither will the Fed's ability to create more money out of thin air and lend it to their cronies. The issue is spending, and I see only one candidate who's proposing any serious cuts in this regard: Ron Paul. That is the top reason why he gets my vote.
