The TV shows appears to be that he left her, but not 100% sure. In the case of the high school teacher, his wife divorced him, left him for another guy but wont get married to him because she likes to collect the $$.

When me and my ex broke up (we weren't married, dated for 5 years) she threatened to take me to court for money. Claiming that I got her used to a certain lifestyle then left her. I told her to go ahead, but nothing ever came about it. We had a mutual breakup too, then that whore decided she wanted to keep buying Coach purses and eat out every night.
