Discount dental plan is the way to go if you have immediate needs. Actually with the right insurance company you can use both the discount dental and then bill the insurance co to save even more. What people don't realize is health providers (dentists included) increase their price by at least 2x to compensate for when the insurance company comes to negotiate a lower price on their bill. So if you take the discount dental card and cash you'll generally end up paying 50% less. I paid less out of pocket for ceramic crowns with a discount dental card than my uncle did with his government insurance plan.
