In 2009 Obama was talking about drawing down in Afghanistan. In 2008 he was promising to have ALL of the combat troops out of Iraq by March 2009, then by 2010, then by 2011. If you paid very close attention to exactly the words he used, you knew he was sending them to die someone else, but a LOT of people voted for him thinking he was the anti-war candidate who would bring the troops home. Just as a most Americans thought he promised not to raise taxes. In truth, he only promised not to raise income taxes and social security taxes, he never said he wouldn't invent entirely new taxes, but most people didn't think he'd do that and most people thought that when he said "bring the troops home" he meant it.
Watch him on this video if you don't believe me. Seven months ago he said he was starting the withdrawal from Afghanistan and promised to have half the troops out by last month. Are they home?
When questioned about Afghanistan, he has at times certainly acknowledged that he's sending a lot of our boys over there, but that's not what he says in the State of the Union or other major speeches. His speeches are all about bringing our people home. In his speech tonight did you hear him mention he meant bringing them home for a few weeks before sending them to die in Afghanistan?
