I think we all know that AVN's awards are based generally on political and financial decisions but the point of Brittany's post (and here are the cliff notes) is that The Best Transsexual Performer doesn't even get to go up on stage, gets sidelined on the red carpet, is not chosen based on whether she's a good performer (in fact it's not even looked at, the winner for this year and last, isn't even a performer, just a solo model) but based on her PR or visibility in the industry/to AVN.
At another award show asked the people working in the niche for their advice on the nominees and engages those producers to get a better understanding of it.
Is it too much to ask for the winner to be presented on stage and have the same equality as mainstream performers?
