Lots of reasons.
First, Humans live longer today than we have in any other point in our history. The longer we live, the more likely we are to get cancer.
Next, we have polluted the planet. Coal, Oil, chemicals, radation etc have surrounded the planet. Scientists even Strontium, a bi product of atomic bomb tests in the 50's and 60's, in the teeth of cadavers who were not even alive in that era. Everyone single one of us has a little bit of cold war era atomic pissing contest in their bodies.
After that, we eat it. Cancer causing chemicals is in all of our food, even in organic food (not as safe as you think). Water bottles, cellphones, old TV's, the fumes from that new rug. And of course there's cigarettes and booze.
/ sigh.
