My pet peeve
Sometimes they are required by state utility commissions for people without Internet service.
I'm glad they do. Yellowpages.com is becoming useless.
The people lookup section never seems to find anyone lately, but directs me to Intelus, which will give me the information for money.
By the way, Intelus will keep on reporting a person, at a phone number years after a new person has that number, if the new person has an unpublished number. Never have that problem with a phone book, when they give up the number, they aren't there next year.
Also, if it's a difficult to spell name or the number is in the name of a family member, looking by the address or close spellings sometimes gives you the answer.
As for the yellow page part, I've looked for businesses I know exist, without any success on yellow pages.com AKA yp.com. One of which has a big ad in the paper version, but didn't exist online. Hello ATT, anybody listening?
Went to look something up the other night, and got the message of some problem on their end check back later. I need results now.
Then I went to check on restaurants in an urban zip code. Results 2200 results at 30 per page. The 1st 100 were not in that zip, some were 20 miles away, other side of town. 2200?!? might as well just scan the paper version, at least they are by types so I could just to the few types my guests would eat.
