google adwords
4 days ago, I decided to try pushing a $20 per trial sponsor targeted to semi-crowded keywords on Google Adwords...
converts 1:85 by sponsor stats... 1:160 if you look at google's clicks to signups.
I was getting ready to pull the plug, although yesterday I did 4 signups so I thought it was picking up...
Today I get an email about grammar, language, and specific sexual content in my listings for keywords...
The highlight for me was reading:
"We do not allow ad text including "cock" to run on Google
at this time."
plus problems with using shorthand terms like "Sk8er," abbreviated grammar, etc.
All totalled, I ended up doing 7 total over 4 days, and I spent $220 to gross $140. My net being a tax write-off of $80.
I would assume that once you get your edited and compliant terms down and set your keywords, you can leave it running and see how it goes. The constant tweaks and monitoring at the outset didn't justify itself in sales, but I may try it again at some point.
Also, I sent direct to the sponsor, not through a filter page--which I should have done with a hub to further narrow down the surfer's intentions.
Of course, should have gone with a higher paying sponsor as well...
Hope this helps out anyone who is thinking about giving it a try...
