I think you are referring to the guy from here in Québec that ran some gambling sites - who lost 250K to epassporte, and his girlfriend had recently left him also ...
Yes he did in fact commit suicide. It was a very sad story. He was already feeling like shit, and the epassporte biz put him over the edge.
