The Long Gray Line, by Rick Atkinson. It's about the West Point class of 1966, how they went through school, graduated, got married, went to war, and the aftermath. It talks about the social impact of society on the war. In the end, everyone falls into three groups - those who did twenty years in the US Army, those who left and made a fortune making the own companies, and those who hated the world short after their first tour began and never really accomplished much in their life.
