yes, thats because the game has EVOLVED. Players are better, faster etc.
they put up more points while going up against more dangerous opponents.
the rules have been made to prevent catastrophic injuries, not to please the fans.
as far as making the game more exciting...no. it's always been exciting.
any football fan knows a 6-3 game can easily be as exciting as a 40-30 game.
It always comes down to the level of drama, not points.
