The catch22 with heroin and other opiates is that people can be 100% functioning addicts, but the costs associated with the habit and the w/d's push people to highly undesirable behavior. If there were proper pricing and safety issues accounted for... otoh.
Perhaps I'm a chemical bigot, but I highly despise almost any kind of amphetamine or speed type substance.
