I grabbed 4 .xxx domains. We'll see how it all goes down, $400 is nothing.
But, as far as I can see, .xxx and IFFOR are no different than .com and ASACP. The price started out at the original .com price and will decrease just like the .com price. ICM is offering services that .com doesn't, such as spending money on marketing the .xxx extension, virus/spyware scanning, taking a proactive response to piracy, and offering traffic portals.
The defensive registrations aren't much different than those you would see on other new extensions, as we have seen in the past. And frankly, I blame those overreacting to the .xxx extension such as the universities around the country for not being savvy enough to recognize that there is virtually no threat or interest in the domains they are registering. And, trademark infringement isn't tolerated, as we've seen.
After wading through all the scare tactics prior to the launch of .xxx, I really don't see what the big deal is any longer.
