The number of NEW claims for unemployment dropped because 10% of the work force was already unemployed before. Celebrating that is like celebrating that your risk of kidney cancer was cut in half because one of your kidneys was removed.
We still have more people whose unemployment has run out or who have completely given up even looking for work than we normally have unemployed at all.
Unemployment is currently 61% higher than the 5.3% average under Bush. If you think 8.6% headline unemployment is good, you must think Bush's 5.3% was amazing.
