I'll let you in on a big secret.. Do you want to know why the American govt cares about what goes on in other countries? It's quite simple, we are capitalistic pigs. We want to make money.

You can look at it any way you want but eventually America's brand is our fortune 500 companies. We really don't care how any country is run as long as our companies can do business there.

The term was often called "gun boat diplomacy" and America first used it in Japan to open up that country for outside trade. Up until that point Japan was an isolationist regime that didn't trade openly with out side countries. That was until 1853 when four US ships sailed into Tokyo Bay and forced them to trade with the US or face being bombarded.

Like it or not this is what we do. We don't involve our self's in other countries policies in attempt to spread Democracy as an ideology, like the USSR did in an attempt to spread a Communist ideology. No we involve our self in other country's business, in order to make them friendly as a trade partner.

We aren't trying to take your country over by some govt idealism, no we only want to sell you shit and buy shit. This is why calling the US hypocritical for things like working with some rogue dictators vs other is meaningless. We don't care about your govt's as long as our companies can do business and you don't affect that business in other places.

Freedom to buy & sell is the only freedom our govt policies really care about. It might not be pretty but that's about the truth of it. Many people think China owns the US due to debit, but think about it.. What would China be with out the business it gets from the US?
