Huh? All you need to understand here is that he was talking about
the area where he lives, which is relevant to his point; not the surface of the area where he lives, which is completely irrelevant.
Put it this way:
Do you think he meant, particularly given the context of the thread, about safety: "I rather have 10 muslims walking
in the area that is my street than 1 idiot with a gun and knife".
Or do you think he meant: "I rather have 10 muslims walking
on the surface that is my street than 1 idiot with a gun and knife"?
What possible relevance does the surface of the street have to his point?
