My ex-wife knew of a "wet nurse" (basically a lactating nanny who could breast feed your baby) who stuffed ice cubes in her bra so that her milk wouldn't spoil. She and your mom should get together.
Seriously, I have seen eggs break when dropped in boiling water, but who knows whether it was because they cracked when they hit the bottom of the pot or because of the sudden temperature change.
When I boil eggs, I start out with cold water and let the eggs come to boiling with the water.
How do other people do it?
