I worked on shit by myself from 2001 to 2003. I joined GFY in 2003 and made a noob ass post looking for people that wanted to make money. First person to light up my IM? A programmer from Canada that knew C++ (I think) only. I told him what I needed, he learned PHP among other things and we made a fucking killing from 2003 - 2008. I sold out and moved offline for a bit, he does his own shit and still rakes in piles of cash. Best programmer I've ever worked with, just got it all.
It's not impossible, as long as you can show someone results in a reasonable amount of time.
