Theo, you are correct that article caused a stir - it was all over twitter. I imagine most people just skimmed it, saw that it was a "standard" opinion, and then went on without really getting into it.
Satire is harder when you are a venue not known for satire, when you are effectively the voice of an industry, and when the base story is all over the mainstream press.
Probably people expected a reasoned answer, not satire.
