I always think of the story in the context of a consultant or innovator. The piper, or leader, has gathered or created special knowledge, the person who was stuck in ignorance and prolonged torture is now free and has the knowledge. The transfer of knowledge was effortless, or the effort was in getting the client to listen, understand, and/or let go of certain preconceptions.
Wow, that seems to have taken 5 minutes of your time. How can you charge me for that?
