Instead of Atkins or other stuff which is potentially dangerous, try this 5-step easy non-diet:
1: Buy a bicycle, and use it for all short-distance stuff you do instead of using a car.
2: Drop refined sugar (so drop all non-diet soft drinks and such).
3: Buy some dumbells, and do a few sets training different body parts each morning. Try to get every muscle group 2 or 3 times a week.
4: Make sure you eat a good breakfast and lunch each day.
5: Don't eat anything after dinner, and make sure dinner is at the very least 4 hours before you go to bed.
