I believe we currently see things much like a hamster in a cage does. We're just in a larger cage, with a few mute brain cells, but still quite minutes in our perception and understanding. The furthest we can see from here, outer space, is the other side of the room. Just as the hamster sees us as a no more than a giant hand reaching in to bring food and occasionally a bath or other "unpleasantness", just as limited and warped is our perception of that energy some of us call God.
I don't know any more about the afterlife than the hamster knows about the internet, but I suspect we will then understand something that makes space and time seem infinitesimally small.
